Hatley Park Museum

Hatley Park Museum is located in the basement of Hatley Castle, was established in 1999 by Royal Roads University and a dedicated group of volunteers from the Friends of Hatley Park Society.

Dunsmuir Room
The Dunsmuir Room includes artifacts of James and Laura Dunsmuir's family life, the history of the Castle and gardens, with replicas of the grounds and reconstructions of some of the rooms, a model coal mine, railway history, a tribute to the denominational diversity at Hatley Park, and more.

Rear Admiral John A. Charles Room
Named in honour of the founder of the Friends of Hatley Park Society, the Charles Room includes class photos from each and every RRMC class, cadet uniforms, trophies, historical photographs and documents, and equipment used by the Canadian Forces.

The Future of the Museum
Thanks to a gift to the RRU Foundation from the 2004 Canadian Armed Forces Day Committee, funds from the Royal Roads administration, and expert assistance from the Royal BC Museum, a formal curatorial inventory of all items in the museum was completed in the fall of 2005.

We hope you will come visit us soon.
