Hatley Park is Canada’s largest and most diverse National Historic Site.

Authentic and beautifully preserved, this Edwardian estate is nestled on the southern tip of Vancouver Island, just 25 minutes from downtown Victoria.

Here, a crossroads of history and diversity meets timelessness on 565 oceanfront acres that overlooks the majestic Olympic Mountains. Old growth forests and serpentine trails mingle with formal gardens, a rare ecosystem, and a bird sanctuary on a lagoon.

At the centre, a magnificent castle built in 1908 by former British Columbian Premier and coal baron, James Dunsmuir. The castle is complemented by heritage buildings that commemorate the Royal Roads Military College era (1940 – 1995). This site is now home to Royal Roads University where innovative lifelong learning and experiential education are the foundation of the future.
