NEW! Tourism Training and Education

Complementing the University’s distinctive requirement to operate a national historic site visitors’ attraction, Royal Roads is in the planning stages for new accommodations on site that meet the unique visitation requirements of the university’s learners as well as cater to the executive education, learning retreat and educational travel markets.

The unique mix of tourism operations combined with a dual educational mandate enables Royal Roads University and Hatley Park National Historic Site together, to become a demonstration site of excellence in formal tourism education and lifelong learning opportunities.

To ensure the strategic growth and integration of tourism education and commercial tourism operations, Royal Roads University’s proactive learning in tourism strategy sets the direction.

Embracing lifelong learning, on-site programs for visitors to the site will be augmented by continuing studies programs tourism industry training a new Graduate Certificate in Strategic Leadership in Tourism, as well as new tourism degrees that fulfill a need in the Canadian tourism education market. Currently, the MA and a BA in International Hotel Management is with the Ministry of Advanced Education for approval, with the goal to have these programs available for the fall of 2006.
